The Scolopendra dehaani sp. black morph is an impressive, fast, and defensive centipede. This species is particularly suitable for experienced keepers.
housing
- Minimum dimensions: 30 × 20 × 20 cm for an adult specimen.
- Use a well-sealing container; this species is hardy and prone to escaping.
- Provide plenty of hiding places, such as cork bark and pieces of wood.
Substrate
- At least 10 cm deep, slightly damp but never wet.
- A mix of coconut fiber, humus, and leaf litter works excellently.
Temperature & Humidity
- Temperature: 24–28°C.
- Humidity: 70–80%.
- Keep one side slightly drier so the animal can choose for itself.
food
- Give suitable prey animals such as crickets, cockroaches, or grasshoppers 1 to 2 times a week.
- Adult animals can occasionally catch larger prey.
Behavior
- Very active, fast, and defensive.
- Avoid direct contact; the bite is extremely painful.

- Remove food residues within 24 hours.
- Check regularly for mold and mites.
